PHOTOGRAPHY : SCARLETT ROUX & GARTH HALL

BACKROADS OF NEW ZEALAND

GALERIE LAVOIR VASSEROT
rue Quaranta,SAINT-TROPEZ

This important exhibition is based on a photographic series taken by Scarlett Roux and Garth Hall during their travels through New Zealand in 2001 and 2003.

These two photographers travelled throughout the New Zealand countryside taking photos of farm houses and other rural architectural structures. They have brought back images showing the lesser known aspects of New Zealand and reveal a way of life that is slowly disappearing.

In May, a selection of their work was presented at Valbonne-Sophia Antipolis for the Cannes Film Festival. Based on the success of this exhibition, their work was presented in Paris in June, following an invitation from the New Zealand Ambassador to France, Mr Adrian Macey. The exhibition coincided with the official visit of New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Ms Helen Clark, for the commemoration of the D-Day Landings. Greatly appreciated by the Prime Minister and Ambassador, their photographs were described as “symbols” of the New Zealand way of life.
