| Heidi, sixteen-years-old, seeks out sexual adventures to make up for the lack of her mother’s attention and her father’s absence. Following a violent argument, Heidi flees her suburban Canberra home, seeking work in the snowfields of Jindabyne. A sympathetic motel owner, Irene offers her a place to stay. She finds a job at a lakeside petrol station, where she befriends her co-worker Bianca, and, over time, Bianca's mother and family. She even finds romance, of a sort, with a handsome local, Joe, a wealthy farmer's son. Things are not going to be easy though, and the past has a way of catching up. | |||
